Ekiti SACA Empowers PLWHA

The Governor Kayode Fayemi-led administration of Ekiti state will continue to do all within its resources to support People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA’s) across the state.

Wife of the Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, made this known while presenting soap-making equipment and materials to Mrs Kehinde Elemure who is been living with HIV/AIDS.

Erelu Fayemi, who is also the Chairperson of the State AIDS Control Agency (SACA), said that government has done a lot to support PLWHAs financially, medically and morally and would intensify efforts in this direction.

In the same vein, she said that government was building the capacity of the PLWHAs to enable them to survive in a society where discrimination and stigmatisation against them was rife.

She stated that the gesture to support Mrs Kehinde Elemure in her soap-making business was to enable her to take care of herself and her children.

Most importantly, the SACA boss noted that the beneficiary would be able to afford dietary and medical support to be healthy and live long.

 The governor’s wife stressed the need for PLWHAs to continue to have access to good health and support to enable them to live as long as God destined them.

She used the opportunity to encourage the citizens of the state to go for HIV screening in order to know their status, adding that those that might test positive should not pass death sentence on themselves.

Responding to the gesture, the beneficiary, Mrs Kehinde Elemure, expressed her appreciation to the First Lady for her care and support for women and the less-privileged in the state.

She promised to use the materials judiciously to improve her lots and that of her children
