Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has presented two Toyota Hilux pick-ups to the Okitipupa 19th Battalion of the Nigerian Army as part of measure to consolidate the efforts of the state government towards ensuring the safety of lives and property of citizens and investors. Okitipupa 19th Battalion of the Nigerian Army oversees both Ondo and Ekiti states.
Speaking during the presentation at Ado Ekiti, the Governor said the donation was in fulfillment of the promise of the state government to equip security agencies in the state with necessary facilities for them to discharge their duties; adding that security agencies should not relent in ensuring that the state does not only become a haven but also a choice destination for investors.
Fayemi added that the gesture was also an affirmation of the state government’s readiness to host the Nigerian Army in the State. It could be recalled that the Governor had in December last year presented the Ekiti State command of the Nigeria Police with two Armoured Personnel Carriers to carry out their duties. Receiving the vehicles, the Commanding Officer of the Battalion, Lt. Colonel Patrick Okoye thanked the state government for the support given to the Battalion and assured that the confidence reposed in it would be justified as the vehicles would be judiciously used.
