The Ekiti State Government has described the death of the mother of the governor, Mrs. Dorcas Aina Fayemi, as a big loss not only to the Fayemi family but the entire people of the state.

Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Funminiyi Afuye, in a statement on Tuesday urged Governor Kayode Fayemi to take solace in the fact that the late octogenarian lived a fulfilled life.

Afuye described the late Madam Fayemi as a compassionate, committed, religious, generous and virtuous woman whose life touched her immediate community.

Afuye noted that the late matriarch was a disciplinarian who taught the governor virtues of discipline, commitment and selfless service to mankind in her lifetime.

He also hailed the late Madam Fayemi for standing by her son in prayers throughout the three-and-half year struggle to reclaim the mandate given to him (Dr. Fayemi) by voters in both 2007 and 2009 governorship elections in the state.

The commissioner expressed satisfaction that Mama Fayemi eventually witnessed the ascension of his son to the number one seat in the Land of Honour where he (Dr. Fayemi) has been positively touching the lives of the people of the state.

While noting that the loss of one’s mother was one of the inevitable vicissitudes of life,  Afuye said government and people of Ekiti State
are with the governor and his siblings in this period of transition of the matriarch of the family.

Afuye said: “The government and people of Ekiti State wish to commiserate with the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and
the entire Fayemi family of Isan-Ekiti over the passing into eternal glory of their matriarch, Madam Dorcas Aina Fayemi.

“This is no doubt a great loss to the entire immediate Fayemi family but indeed to the entire Ekiti people that she was their mother.

“She lived a glorious, purposeful and fulfilled life though.

“While wishing the family the fortitude to bear the loss, it is our prayer that the gentle soul of mama rest in eternal bliss and also
grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
