Ekiti State Government has approved the electrification project of Orin Farm Settlement at the cost of N27.2 million naira.
Special Adviser on Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Mr. Kayode Jegede stated this in a meeting with the Orin Community. He said the electrification project covers about 4.2 km from the town to the farm settlement and will be complemented with a transformer and street lights.
Mr. Jegede said the project which was awarded in April is expected to be completed by the end of July and charged the contractor to work
according to the contractual agreement.
The Special Adviser also assured various communities where electrification projects are on-going that the era of abandoned projects was over, noting that massive infrastructural development is the goal of the present administration.
In his remarks, the Olorin of Orin Ekiti, Oba Oluwole Olubunmo commended the state government for embarking on the project which will in turn impact positively on the socio-economic lives of the people.
He however appealed to the state government to place premium on boosting agriculture with a view to tackling food insecurity.
In another development, the state government has completed the rehabilitation of 10 hand pumps, and solar powered boreholes in some communities in the state. The Communities are, Omuo, Omuo Oke, Eda Ile, and Isinbode Ekiti in Ekiti East Local Government Area of the state.
The Special Adviser on Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Mr. Kayode Jegede while in the communities expressed the willingness of the present administration to make potable water affordable and available to all its citizens.
Mr. Jegede said efforts are in top gear to make the four dams in the state functional and produce water at full capacity to meet people’s
needs.
He said the state government will stop at nothing in making life bearable and worthy of living for its citizens. Mr. Jegede used the occasion to inform the people about the new Water Master plan for Ekiti state which he hoped if adopted will tackle the numerous problems facing the water sector in the state.
The Special Adviser therefore called for more community involvement and participation in implementing government policies and programmes.
