Ekiti State Government Withdraws Recognition From NUT

October 9, 2012

PRESS RELEASE

Following the security threat posed by the unguarded activities of the state’s chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Ekiti State Government has withdrawn its recognition from the Union in the state with immediate effect.

Henceforth, the State Government would deal directly with teachers in its employment and not through the NUT as it no longer recognises the union.

This decision becomes imperative following the inability of the NUT to provide the right leadership for teachers in the state leading to incessant breakdown of law and order which has negative impact on education in the state.

Teachers are advised to go about their responsibilities as enshrined in their letters of appointment and scheme of service.
