Ekiti Govt Commiserates With Ikere People Over Monarch Passage

Ekiti State Government has commiserated with the entire people of Ikere-Ekiti over the passage of the town’s monarch, the Ogoga of Ikere, His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Adegoke Adegboye, Akayejo II, who passed on Friday, August 22nd, 2014.

The State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, who received an official notification of the demise of the monarch via a letter from the Ogoga in Council, said the Ikere community as well as the government of the state would miss the fatherly role of the late monarch whose reign was characterised by peace and development.

Governor Fayemi in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olayinka Oyebode, and made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday said he received the news of the passage of the Ogoga with some measure of sadness. He was however grateful to God for the positive impact made by the late monarch during his reign.

The Governor said he has since got in touch with the family of the late monarch, even as he urged the people of the town to remain calm.

Governor Fayemi described the late Oba Adegboye as a monarch who had a long and peaceful reign and who would be remembered for the development the town witnessed during his reign as well as the support he gave to the state government as a royal father.

According to the letter by the Ogoga in Council, funeral rights for the late Oba, had since commenced.
