The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayo Fayose has directed his deputy, Dr.Kolapo Olusola Eleka to take charge and oversee the Ministry of
Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) with a view to reposition the education sector and regain the lost ground.
The Deputy Governor, who is an associate professor at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife is to bring to bear his vast experience as a lecturer of many decades to restore the glory of education in Ekiti and make it the foremost among committee of states.
According to a press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Idowu Adelusi, in Ado Ekiti on Friday, Fayose noted that with the caliber of the person of Dr. Olusola Eleka overseeing the education sector, Ekiti was on the verge of making history again, saying Ekiti was on the 8th and 7th position in WAEC and NECO respectively when he left office in 2006.
Governor Fayose described Dr. Eleka as an experienced and erudite scholar of years who is capable of giving the state best legacy in education sector as a committed, cool headed and proactive educationist.
With this additional responsibility, the deputy governor now superintends over issues bordering on education from the primary level to the tertiary level with all education related departments and agencies reporting to the deputy governor who in turn reports to the governor.
