Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose has renewed his call to principals of all the public schools across the state to emulate St Louis Grammar Schools, Ikere Ekiti which put up basic infrastructural facilities that will ensure conducive educational environment and safety of their students.
Governor Ayodele Fayose made the call during an unscheduled visit to the school in Ikere Ekiti.
Governor Fayose who was represented by his deputy, Dr Kolapo Olusola said his visit was a follow up to the recent visit of Governor Fayose to the school.
The first point of call was the CCTV Camera Control room installed at the principal’s office to monitor all the activities going on within the school premises.
The principal of St. Louis Grammar School, Mrs. Rhoda Ojo briefed the deputy governor on the importance of the CCTV camera, adding that paucity of funds stalled the full installation of the monitoring gadget.
Appreciating the importance of the CCTV Cameras, Dr Olusola on behalf of Governor Ayodele Fayose lauded the management, Old Students Association, and the Parents Teachers Association of the school for taking initiative that ensured the safety of the students and promised the sum of N300, 000.00 (three hundred thousand) naira only for the completion of the remaining three CCTV Cameras at the strategic points on the school compound.
Other facilities inspected in the school included, the anti disease water treatment basin, school bore hole and the Health Centre.
At the school clinic, Dr Olusola on behalf of the governor again gave largesse of N100, 000.00 (one hundred thousand) naira for the maintenance of the sick bay and to settle the medical treatment of the students on the sick bed.
While commending the school authority for a job well done, the deputy governor charged the teachers to put in more efforts towards the betterment of the students, while promising that government of Mr. Ayodele Fayose would not relent in its efforts at improving the welfare of teachers.
The Deputy Governor thereafter met with the SSS 3 Students at the assembly ground and charged them to be focused and be more studious to excel in their examinations.
He informed them that Governor Fayose’s agenda in the sector was to make sure those writing the next WAEC examinations record at least 80 percent pass in the examinations.
The school Principal, Mrs. Rhoda Ojo thanked the Governor for the prompt release of the one million naira which he promised for the development of the school during his last visit, saying the parents, teachers and students of the school would forever be grateful.
