Ekiti Fire Service Saves 55 Lives, N3Billion Investment

The Head of Service of Ekiti State, Dr. Olugbenga Faseluka has assured that the State government under the leadership of Governor Ayodele Fayose would not shirk in ensuring  the safety of lives and property of residents of the States.

The assurance came following a review of the activities of the State Ministry of Public Utilities which revealed that the State Fire Services department saved 55 lives and several investments worth #3.2 Billion between January 2015 and June 2016.

Dr. Faseluka who expressed satisfaction that the State Public Service was living up to expectation as the engine room of government commended the Fire Services department for providing emergency services which Ekiti people could bank on.

While reviewing the paper titled “Sustainable Utility Infrastructure: Lubricating the wheel of socio-economic development”, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Public Utility, Engr. Sunday Komolafe

disclosed that the department attended to 232 fire calls and 34 accidents in the period under review. Komolafe stated that property worth #3.05 Billion was saved between in

2015 and #298 Million between January and June 2016. He however said that 9 lives were lost in both fire hazard and accidents while 55 lives were saved.

The Permanent Secretary added that the fire service department has the capacity to strengthen the State economic base following the maintenance and security of critical infrastructure against wanton destruction by fire and other disasters.

Komolafe assured that the department would always guarantee a safe environment for local and foreign investors.
