Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose on Wednesday interfaced with thousands of female teachers from primary and secondary schools from across the 16 Local Government Areas in Ekiti at the Government House Arcade, Ado Ekiti in an event that had the Ekiti State First Lady, Mrs. Feyisetan Fayose, wife of the deputy governor, Deaconess Janet Olusola, Secretary to the Ekiti State Government, Dr. (Mrs) Modupe Alade and other prominent women in the Ekiti civil service in attendance.
Governor Fayose called on the women to stand up to be counted in 2017 as his government is poised to make 2017 their year. The governor who lamented men’s overbearing attitude at suppressing women urged men to desist from such and encourage their wives in having a voice in Nigeria.
“In Nigeria today, the voice of Ekiti women is nearly the least audible, we don’t allow them show their talents to the world, we often suppress them as men, we don’t always give them the chance, this is bad, I urge husbands and fathers to desist from this act. Let us give our women a chance, let their voices be heard”, the governor said.
Mr. Fayose who urged women to turn up to be celebrated in the year 2017 World Women’s Day Celebration which comes up March 8th 2017 said he’s making provision to host 100,000 women in Ado-Ekiti in an elaborate manner.
Speakers at the event including The First Lady, Mrs Feyisetan Fayose, Wife of the Deputy governor, Mrs Kemi Olusola, Secretary to the Ekiti State Government, Dr. (Mrs) Modupe Alade, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Dr. (Mrs) Obaisi, Principal, All Souls Anglican School, Ado-Ekiti, Mrs Arogundade amongst others took turn to appreciate governor Fayose for the recognition given women.
The SSG, Dr.(Mrs) Modupe Alade who informed the gathering that governor Fayose remains the first Ekiti governor to appoint a female SSG stressed that Ekiti women has never had it so good.
Ekiti first lady, Mrs. Feyisetan Fayose appreciated the governor for not restricting them to the other room and the kitchen, she thanked Ekiti women for the support given her husband as she urged them to come forward to be celebrated in 2017.
