Political Office Holders in the Local Government Areas of Ekiti State have been urged to understand one another and work harmoniously for effective local Government administration and grass root development.
Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, gave this charge while declaring open a 2- day orientation course for all political Office holders in the 16 Local Government areas of the state in Ado- Ekiti.
Governor Fayose, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Kolapo Olusola reminded them of the enormous responsibilities placed on them by the Constitution and urged the public office holders to perform their roles to meet the yearnings of the local populace which is the nearest government to the people.
He said that the orientation course is necessary to checkmate a pocket of skirmishes within the legislative and executive arms of the council areas as well as to put them on their toes on how to make their impact felt not minding the insufficiency of funds at the local government level.
He however assured the people of Ekiti State that his government will partner with the local government councils to continually execute projects that would enhance their standard of living.
In his welcome address, the State Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Kolapo Kolade said the orientation Course was initiated in a bid to rectify the flaws associated with Local government administration and equip the officials with necessary skills that would guarantee peace and development at the grassroots levels.
