Information, Youth And Sport Development

The Ministry of Information is responsible for the government’s information management and dissemination to the people. It uses all available legitimate media tools and engaged the citizenry through a four-pronged information pool.

It generates information from the government to the people ,from the people to the government, from the people to the people and from the government to the government thereby guaranteeing transparency, accountability, probity and integrity in governance, fostering partnership between the governed and the government.

The Ministry is divided into Finance and Account; Administration and Supplies, Information Services, General Publication, Planning, Research, & Statistics; Social Mobilization, Youth and Sport  Developments.

The following are the agencies under the Ministry: BSES – Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (Radio and Television); The Government Printing Press and State Sports Council.

Our Vision

To ensure transparency, accountability, probity and integrity in governance, thus fostering partnership between the governed and the government. Also to be the leading Government Ministry in Information Management, Youth empowerment and Sports Development.

Our Mission

We facilitate governance by providing accurate, credible, timely and in-depth directional information, using professional tools and methods and guided by global best practices.
We create an enabling environment for Ekiti Youths to be world, contenders in skills, knowledge and attitude through talent development, quality training, school competitions, character-molding and extra-mural activities.

Functions

  1. Dissemination of accurate information on the activities of Government
  2. Mobilization of the Citizenry to imbibe positive values and patriotism through every available channel of communication
  3. Enhancement of Youth Development through Empowerment, Training, Sensitization etc.
  4. Promotion of Sports Development through harnessing of Sports Potentials and development of same.
  5. Publicity of government activities and promotion of good public image for government, through proper and adequate dissemination of information.
  6. Generating policy on staff welfare and discipline as well as training and building capacity for competence and skills
  7. Facilitating good working relationship between the State and Federal Ministry of Information .
  8. Planning and research, coupled with monitoring and updating of statistical data for information processing.
  9. Popularizing government policies and programmes at the grassroots and creating behavioural and attitudinal change through communication packages to sanitize all segments of the society
