HISTORY OF MINISTRY OF COMMERCE, INDUSTRIES AND COOPERATIVES

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives was established in October, 1996 following the creation of Ekiti State. There are abundant human and material resources for the economic emancipation of Ekiti State. The Ministry of Commerce, Industries and Cooperative is charged with the responsibility of harnessing them. The need for industrial development and the promotion of good livelihood for the people of the State is meritable. These goals can only be achieved through the formation of policies and programmes aimed at positioning Ekiti State on an enviable map of Economic and Industrial development goals into reality.

The  Ministry of Commerce, Industries and Cooperatives has embarked on various projects ranging from investment promotion and managements Cooperative activities, Industrial Credit Scheme for Commerce, capacity building for SMEs and Entrepreneurial development programmes.

In a broad sense and to achieve this for Ekiti State, the Ministry is made up of the following departments: Finance and Administration, Commerce, Investment Promotion and management, Small Scale Industries and Cooperative Services Departments.
