Special Sports Association Holds First Power Lifting Trials

Ekiti State Special Sports Association has held its first trial in power lifting for male and female categories at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti.

At the end of the trials, Ajimati Modupe lifted 85kg, Ganiyu Arowolo lifted 95kg, Aborisade Sogo lifted 135kg while Olasunkanmi Taiwo lifted 95kg.

Speaking to newsmen at the end of the trials, the power lifting Coach, Mr. Peter Ojo noted that the result of the trial was impressive.

He noted that the purpose of the trial was to test the ability of the athletes to ascertain whether or not they are improving on their previous performances, adding that the exercise will be routine.

Meanwhile, in an attempt to discover budding talents in Soccer, the Management of Efon Local Government has begun an inter-Primary Schools’ football competitions among the primary schools in the Council Area.

The competition tagged: “Dr. Adio Folayan’s Cup 2012” is taking place at Government College, Efon Alaaye.
