Fayemi Commissions Ekiti Sector Command of The Federal Road Safety Corps

The Governor of Ekiti state, Dr Kayode Fayemi has commissioned the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) office for Ekiti sector command, Ado Ekiti with a promise to collaborate with it in his drive towards ensuring that avoidable accidents are prevented on our roads.

Fayemi, who assured the command in providing a conducive environment for proper servikce delivery appreciated it for working tirelessly incessant deaths ona ccount of road accidents.

He said “All hands must be on deck therefore in our quest to restore sanity in our motoring culture. It is in this regards that the state would continue to partner with you command in all desired areas of making sure that avoidable accidents are prevented on our roads. The state is also open to other collaborative options with FRSC, especially in providing the conducive environment for the delivery of your mandate to Ekiti people.

“Let me at this juncture appreciate your command for working assiduously to reduce the occurrence of deaths as a result of road crashes in Ekiti state. The recent road accidents statistics indicate that our state is one of the states with the least number of deaths by road accidents. This feat would not have been achievable without the commitment of the command.”

The governor commended the agency for standing out in parading qualified staff who had contributed to the safety of lives and properties adding that safety of lives is a cardinal principle geared towards restoring value and ensure respect for human dignity.

He commended the management of FRSC on the conception and completion of the project that will no doubt facilitate effective and conducive work environment as well as for its untiring commitment to road safety issues noting that the country has continued to witness aggressiveness in its pursuit of road safety campaigns.

Fayemi also appreciated the federal government for considering the state in its policy of providing permanent office structures for the FRSC and urged the officers to make judicious use of the edifice and not see it as one of the public buildings that could be used anyhow.

“Our avowed mission in this second coming is hinged solely on making sure that life is worth living for our people in Ekiti state. This, we would do by creating the needed environment in terms of infrastructural development, especially touching on our roads which is your sole area of operation.

“I wish to use this medium to appreciate the federal government for this kind gesture and to also urged the officers of the command to make good use of this office and guard it jealously. Do not see it as a public building that must be used anyhow.

The government has done its part for you to have the necessary convenience at work. It is therefore expedient that you make the best and proper use of the building.”Fayemi said.

In his address of welcome, the Corps Marshal of FRSC, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi commended the gesture of the federal government for supporting the Corp with building of permanent office complexes across Nigeria as the one being commissioned in Ekiti is one of them.

Oyeyemi further appreciated the federal government for supporting the Corps with provision of necessary logistics and enabling environment promising to work harder to reciprocate the gestures.

He said the Corps would continue to play its role in ensuring safer motoring culture through commitment to road safety campaigns.

The Corps Marshal also appreciated Ekiti state government for supporting the commission all the time and promised to address the perennial traffic menace during Ember months.
