A fitness and aerobic centre capable of catering for the fitness and health needs of people in the state will soon be established at the Oluyemi Kayode Sports Stadium by the Ekiti State Sports Council.
The Chairman of the State Sports Council, Dr. Isaac Ayodele who made this known at a forum in Ado Ekiti, explained that the gesture was to provide opportunity for all and sundry to engage in physical exercise that would strengthen their hearts and lungs as well as guarantee their fitness at all times.
According to him, the programme which is expected to kick off within two weeks will also combat the causes of heart failure and curb spate of sudden deaths.
Dr. Ayodele highlighted other programmes in the offing of the sports council to include a martial art programme for children of 3 to 15 years and talent hunt in the 16 Local Government areas of the state.
Elucidating on the proposed programmes, the Chairman said that participating children would be trained in judo, karate, taekwondo while the talent hunt was in preparation for the forthcoming National Sports Festival.
He urged parents to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the programmes to develop their children and build their future.
