Ekiti State Government has declared Friday 7th March, 2014 as a work free day to enable workers in the State Public Service and the entire people of the State collect their Permanent Voters Cards.
A statement by Ekiti State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Tayo Ekundayo in Ado-Ekiti explained that the work free day was declared to also enable people of the State take part in the verification of voters register taking place between Friday 7th March and Sunday 9th March, 2014.
The statement stressed the significance of workers and people of the State to the political process, adding that the Fayemi led administration attached major importance to the sanctity of the electoral process and would therefore ensure an enabling environment for the people to perform their civic responsibilities.
It also urged young men and women who have just attained the age of 18 to register during the forthcoming registration of new voters scheduled to hold between Wednesday 12th March and Wednesday 19th March, 2014.
