EKSG Inaugurates Team On Orphans And Vulnerable Children

The team on Quality Improvement on Orphans and Vulnerable Child (OVC) has been inaugurated in Ekiti State.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony in Ado-Ekiti, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Social Development and Gender Empowerment, Mrs. Fola Richie-Adewusi said the team would appraise the level of support and care given to children by the child-focused Non-Governmental Organizations in the state.

Mrs. Richie-Adewusi who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Mrs. Olapeju Babafemi lauded the efforts of PACT Nigeria and the State Government for their care and support for children in Ekiti.

She noted that the present administration was committed to the welfare and development of citizens, particularly children and women. The Commissioner stated that the role of the team was to monitor the OVC and the stakeholders involved in the implementation of their programmes in the designated Local Government Areas as well as to ensure that the programme achieve the  desired results.
She urged the NGOs in the state to work with the team to monitor the implementation process of the OVC programming, identify their challenges and proffer lasting solutions to them.

Earlier, the representative of State Action Committee on AIDS (SACA) Mr. Remilekun Ajayi emphasized the need for the NGOs to submit reports of activities on OVC to the Ministry of women Affairs to enable them receive assistance form donor agencies adding that SACA was ready to support the Ministry in the area of child development.
