Community Leaders in Ekiti State have been urged to sensitize their people to be law – abiding and protect infrastructures and government properties in the state.
The State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Chief Dayo Fadipe gave the charge at the meeting of Ekiti State Community Development Council in Ado-Ekiti.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Deji Ajayi implored the Community Leaders to co-operate with the Government in bringing development to the people.
While stressing that government cannot single handedly provide all the basic needs of the people, Chief Fadipe appreciated the self-help projects embarked upon by various communities to complement the effort of the State Government at providing basic infrastructures.
He explained that arrangements are on to develop a policy position to enable government support Town’s Day Celebrations through token contributions towards development at the grassroots.
The Commissioner noted that over the years, the enhancement of the quality of community development services had increased the pace of self-help activities through the involvement of the people in community development with a solid grassroot foundation for self-reliance and self sustaining development processes.
Chief Fadipe therefore urged the Community Development Council to submit its inputs to enable government have an all- embracing policy position.
Earlier, the State Director of Community Development, Mr. Femi Akingbolu stressed the importance of the meeting as a medium for the community development to work harmoniously with the State Government to fast- track development in the state.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of the Council, Chief Ade Fasubaa who spoke through the Vice Chairman, Mr. Akin Bamigboye thanked the State Government for its support for the Council.
