Olayinka Concludes Inspection Of Road Projects

Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Funmi Olayinka yesterday concluded visits to road projects embarked upon by the government of Dr. Kayode Fayemi across the 16 local government areas, warning that government was not going to allow abusage of infrastructure being provided for the communities.
Speaking at the end of the programme, she explained that the tour revealed that Ekiti people have remained honourable in their dealings with the contractors, whom she insisted must equally remain friendly with their host communities.
Olayinka who said the government was committed to building five kilometer roads in all the local council areas of the state annually, urged the contractors to ensure that they consider local workforce in their employment solicited the people’s support to take ownership of the roads for supervision and maintenance.She expressed government’s displeasure at situations where refuse are dropped into drainages.
Saying government was satisfied with the speed and standard of roads handled by some contractors, the deputy governor said those performing below expectation would be encouraged to buckle up. She added that further jobs would be awarded based on performance.
Olayinka said rather than share accruing income for personal benefits, the Dr. Fayemi administration has chosen to better the lots of the people by causing projects that are in the best interest of the people.
She said periodic inspections would be carried out to monitor jobs being done by people on behalf of the people so that investment of the people can be protected at all times.
