Residents of Ekiti state have been charged to desist from patronizing quack doctors that run unauthorized hospitals not to endanger their lives.
The commissioner for health and human services Dr. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade gave this charge during the unscheduled visit of the medical anti quackery committee set up by the Ekiti state government to some identified illegal hospitals in Ekiti state.
Yaya-Kolade who was represented by the director Hospital services and training Dr. Rufus Adetoye said the Ekiti state government under the leadership of Dr Kayode Fayemi is no more comfortable with quackery in medical practice in Ekiti state and will be ready to frown at anyone caught in the act.
“The intention of the state government through the committee is to stamp out quackery in the state and to eradicate quackery in our dear state and the way innocent people are being killed must stop”. She said.
She reiterated that unqualified doctors were met at some hospitals visited and this warranted sealing up the facilities. Some facilities visited included Omole Hospital,Ado Ekiti, Adedamola Hospital,Ado Ekiti, Divine Citadel Hospital Ado Ekiti and Divine Hospital and maternity home,ilawe Ekiti.
The commissioner echoed that the visit of the committee and the law enforcement agency would be a continuous exercise until medical quackery is bashed out of Ekiti state.
“We are using this medium to enlighten the public that you are endangering your life if you visit or patronize Divine citadel hospital Ado Ekiti and ilawe Ekiti,Omole clinic at omisanjana,Adedamola hospital and maternity home,Ajilosun,Ado Ekiti and other hospitals that are not maned by qualified doctors but rather visit government hospitals for quality health care. She emphasized.
Some patients met at the hospitals who beg anonymity pleaded with the state government for more sensitization so that people would not fall prey of the quack doctors in Ekiti and also commended the state government over the bold step.
