The 2nd Ekiti State Gender Summit will begin today, Monday December 3, 2012.
The 2-day event which has “Human Security and Implication for Gender Equality and Women Empowerment” as its theme is jointly sponsored by the Ekiti State Ministry of Women Affairs and the Ekiti Development Founation (EDF).
The summit will hold at the Adetiloye Hall, Trade Fair Complex, Iyin Road, Ado
Ekiti. Governor Kayode Fayemi will be the special guest of honour while the Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Zainab Maina and the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Mrs. Funmi Olayinka are expected to be guests of honour.
Other guests including the Deputy Governors of Lagos and Osun, Wives of Governors of Lagos, Osun, Kwara, Oyo and Ogun states among others are expected to grace the event.
Issues to be discussed at the summit would include Women’s Health, Security and safety, Women’s Voice, Feminization of poverty and women’s livelihood as well as putting the individual at the heart of security concerns: leadership initiatives to protect vulnerable citizens.
