Residents of Ita-Eku quarters in Odo Ado area of Ado Ekiti has commended the Fayemi led administration for dredging the waterway in the area.
Chatting with Journalists in Ado Ekiti, a resident of the Community, Mr. Olu Abayomi said that the waterway had constituted a threat to lives and property of people in the area with its perennial overflow and attendant flooding of the area.
Mr. Abayomi lamented that successive past administration failed to address the problem of flooding in the area in spite of pleas by people in the community. He however described the efforts of the present administration to stem the problem as worthy of commendation adding that the gesture would secure lives and property of the people.
In his remarks, the General Manager of Ekiti State Environmental Protection Agency, Mr. Seyi Adegbola assured that the government would not relent efforts to arrest flood in the state.
Mr. Adegbola said that government would continue to execute ecological projects with a view to preventing avoidable ecological disasters.
The Agency Boss solicited for the support of the people, stressing the need for them to stop dumping refuse in waterways. He also charged the people in the state to stop building houses on the waterways, adding that they should have the approved building plan before commencing the construction of their buildings.
