Ekiti CJ Releases 34 Prison Inmates

The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Ayodele Daramola has granted unconditional release to 27 inmates of the Ado Ekiti prisons while 7 others were released on bail.
Speaking during a visit to the prison in Ado Ekiti, Justice Daramola explained that the exercise which he said was the second within the year was to see to the welfare of the inmates and decongest the prison by discharging those that had been unjustifiably denied access to justice.

The Chief Judge who said that the released inmates were those that had spent more than they could possibly serve given the offence they were charged with or those that were arrested on frivolous allegation.
While stressing that the gesture would bring succour to the released inmates, Justice Daramola expressed hope that they have learnt their lessons and would live peaceably in the society.

Earlier the Comptroller of Ado Ekiti Prisons, Mr. Aremu Tajudeen lamented the lack of adequate facilities in the prisons.
Mr. Tajudeen appealed to the state government to assist in expanding the facility to ease congestion of the new prisons.

The released inmates were visibly ecstatic and expressed gratitude to God and the Ekiti State Government for the kind gesture.
Messers Adebo Adewumi and Oluwatimilehin Olarenwaju who said that they had both spent 4years in custody pledged to be of good behaviour, adding that they would be eternally grateful to the Chief Judge and the state government for the kind gesture.
