Team Inspects Hospitals As ORASE Continues

In readiness for the renovation of all the General and Specialist Hospitals in Ekiti State, the Bureau of Special Projects has begun the need assessment of all the hospitals spread across the three Senatorial Districts in the State.

The Special Adviser/Director General of the Bureau, Mr. Bayo Kelekun in a press statement issued by the Special Assistant, Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Dare Daramola said the  assessment was to capture the condition of facilities in the health sector in the state.

The inspection would be centred on such structures such as Out Patient Department, in-patient Wards, Administrative offices, Laboratories, Operating Theatres, X-ray Departments, Mortuaries, Staff Quarters and the current position of equipment and furniture.”

This, he said, will enable the Bureau have an insight into the level of deterioration of the facilities in the hospitals before commencement of renovation.”

The Special Adviser explained that the   inspection was crucial because through it, the Bureau will be able to draw up a work plan that will make thorough supervision and management of project possible.
He further disclosed that three Specialist Hospitals, in Ijero, Ikere and Ikole  would be renovated to meet with the required standard.
In all, Kelekun said 20 General Hospitals, three Specialist Hospitals and 35 Comprehensive Health Centres would be renovated across the state, while three new hospitals would be built.

Apart from the renovation of Hospitals and Health Centres earmarked for 2013, the Special Adviser hinted that plans have been concluded to commence work at the Oba Rufus Adejugbe Hospital Complex located at Agric Olope Area, Ajilosun, in the state capital.

He said the contractor had already resumed work at the site.

Kelekun added that the second phase of Operation Renovate All Schools In Ekiti (ORASE) has started in the remaining 83 secondary schools while construction work has started at the Tungba Park along Ado\Iyin Road. Other projects to be supervised by the Bureau in 2013 include the completion of the new Secretariat Complex, Construction of Markets, Beautification of the State Capital, Repairs and Rehabilitation of Existing Secretarial Buildings and others.
