Ekiti Govt. resumes clearing of over 20,000 hectares of land for agricultural purpose

The Government of Ekiti State under the leadership of Dr. Kayode Fayemi has resumed land clearing for farming across the state. This quarter, over 20,000 hectares are planned for clearing including the following;

Ipao (5,000 Ha)
Iyemero (2011 Ha)
Osin (201 Ha)
Gede (500 Ha)
Orin (1,500 Ha)
Orin Farm Settlement Ido Layout (200 Ha)

Recall that over 1,554 hectares of Agricultural Land across 5 Local Government Areas (Oye, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Emure, Ido-Osi, and Ilejemeje) were approved for clearing in 2019. A significant portion of arable land has also been cleared at Ikun Dairy Farm.

With the plan to clear significant land areas already ongoing, the government has shown its commitment to activate the agrarian potential of the state and create more jobs in the agricultural sector.
