The Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr Babajide Arowosafe has called on oil palm farmers in the State to cooperate with Government to ensure success of its Agricultural programmes.
Mr. Arowosafe made the statement while hosting oil palm farmers at the state oil palm plantation, Ado Ekiti.
The Commissioner who noted that oil palm has a comparative advantage over other crops as it generates huge and long lasting
revenue to its producers.

He urged the farmers to encourage their children to follow in their noting footsteps stressing that the Fayemi led administration was prepared to make farming, attractive by providing incentives to would-be commercial farmers.
The Commissioner noted that, the involvement of Youths in farming was necessary to ensure sustainability and gradual replacement of old farmers in the State.

He said grading of oil palm products would be introduced to ensure quality adding that certificates of competence would be issued to
farmers who meet the required standards while farmers with low quality products would have their certificates withdrawn.

Responding on behalf of others, Dr. Olanrewaju Kupoati urged Government to take oil palm production seriously saying revenue from
oil palm products and cocoa were enough to sustain the economy of the State.

He called on Government to be consistent with their policies on agriculture while Chief Tijani Agun of the State Farmers Congress
called on Government to involve retirees in their agricultural programmes to ensure continuity.
