Government of Ekiti State, Nigeria.

EKSG Launches Weekly Newsletter To Improve Citizens’ Access To Information

March 1, 2021

The Government of Ekiti is pleased to announce the launch of Ekiti Weekly – a weekly top story round-up of major issues and events, curated from the government and third-party channels by most impressions and social listening in Ekiti State. The newsletter format and content have been designed to provide the public concise access to the most relevant government and citizens’ stories of the past week and what to expect in the week ahead.

Designed as part of a broader communications strategy to increase citizens’ access to information, Ekiti Weekly newsletter is expected to amplify programmes, projects, and activities of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Government of Ekiti State. As digital content, Ekiti Weekly strengthens the flow of information between the government and the citizens by curating and delivering relevant news content.

Stakeholders within and outside the state can subscribe to receive the newsletter via www.ekitistate.gov.ng/newsletter. All subscribers would receive the weekly material every Monday starting from March 1, 2021.

This initiative is a demonstration of the Fayemi administration’s commitment to fulfil Ekiti State’s obligation as an Open Government Partnership (OGP) member, by optimising new digital tools for citizens’ engagement and access to government information and policies. OGP requires member-states to improve compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) concerning the creation, storage, organisation, and management of information and strengthening citizens’ access to government’s policies, projects, and records. Ekiti Weekly is projected to reach an audience of 100,000 by the end of 2021.
