Governor Kayode Fayemi received the new Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Ekiti State Chapter at the Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti on Monday. Discussions were centered on the newly-upgraded schools and improved teachers’ welfare.
The Governor urged the teachers’ union to optimize the newly upgraded schools in the state to deliver quality education to school children. Governor Fayemi stated that the regular payment of salary and recent housing loans given to teachers in the state are part of the broader steps taken by the administration to improve teachers’ welfare.
The new NUT excos of the state chapter described the free basic education enjoyed by public school children and rural and core subject allowances earned by teachers in local communities as laudable. The teachers’ union emphasized the need for the Fayemi administration to not relent in its commitment to quality education and teachers’ welfare.
