Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Funmi Olayinka has said described the payment of taxes and fulfillment of other financial obligations by citizens and residents of Ekiti as a clear demonstrations of their readiness to assist the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi achieve its goal of sustainable development in Ekiti, and improved standard of living.
Addressing participants at the 2-day Ekiti Summit on Revenue Mobilization organized by the Office of the Special Adviser on Revenue Matters and Taxation held at Jibowu Hall, Government House Ground, Ado-Ekiti, she noted that the quest for rebranding and development of the State is a collective effort of stakeholders who must be ready to contribute meaningfully to the revenue framework that will further empower the government to achieve its goals.
According to her, “the Dr. Kayode Fayemi led administration is determined to take Ekiti forward in an environment of collective efforts towards ensuring that our aspirations and visions as a people are fully realized for a noble and desirable future. It is on this basis that we have convened this summit to further actualize an efficient and effective sourcing, utilization and accounting method for resources accruing to our people.”
Earlier, in her address of welcome, the Special Adviser, Revenue Matters and Taxation, Mrs. Olubunmi Adelugba noted that the title of the summit – “Revenue Mobilization for Sustainable Development in Ekiti State, Nigeria: Our Collective Responsibility” has explained the purpose of the summit which is organized to look into how Ekiti through collective effort could revamp and enhance its dwindling revenue profile.
She explained that the summit is intended to discuss direct and indirect tax, collective issues needed for participatory efforts and the legalization off all government efforts among others while the outcome is expected to lead to job creation through temporary and continuous employment of a sensitized work force and increased positive visibility for the state government, especially its internal revenue generation, mobilization and disbursement.
