…gives out cash, and food items, puts smiles on the faces of Ekiti Widows
Food items and cash donations were distributed to one hundred and sixty widows (160) across sixteen (16) local Governments of Ekiti State.
Carrying out the donations in Ado Ekiti, the wife of the governor of Ekiti State, Dr Olayemi Biodun-Oyebanji said the gesture was out of love and feelings for the less privileged, in order to put smiles on their faces.
According to a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the First Lady on Media, Raheem Akingbolu, 10 widows were randomly selected from each of the 16 statutory Local Governments of the state.
Dr Oyebanji said many of the widows are not opportune to eat three meals per day which accounted for malnutrition. Hence, the need to render assistance to them.
She therefore, appealed to them to ensure the proper upbringing of their children so that their labor in life will not be futile.
The Governor’s wife also promised to reach out to other groups of widows subsequently, particularly those that were not captured in this exercise.
“It is our mandate to assist the less privileged, they are part of the society, they need our care, they need our support” she added.
Mrs. Eunice Olufunke on behalf of the group appreciated the First Lady and assured of the group’s support for the present administration. Praying fervently that she succeeds in all her endeavors.
