As the remains of former Deputy Governor of old Ondo State, Chief Akinwole Omoboriowo were laid to rest in his Ijero-Ekiti home country on Friday, the Ekiti StateGovernor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has said that there was need to  build on the legacies of the late elder statesman.

Speaking at the funeral service, the Governor said the roles played by the late elder statesman in the creation and survival of Ekiti State were commendable, even as he did all without any element of political coloration.

This, according to the Governor  was reflected when Omoboriowo called him barely a month after his inauguration in 2010 to advise him on the ways to develop the State.

Fayemi added that despite the efforts of the late Deputy Governor, the State has not recognised him enough but assured that the present administration in Ekiti State would ensure that posthumous honour is given to him while his widow would be catered for.

“If there was anyone who was totally committed to the State, to its creation, its survival, to its thriving, it was Chief Omoboriowo. And he didn’t do it in a partisan manner because I am a beneficiary of his love and support. I believe that the legacy that he left is one that we must pursue with an exemplary passion and on behalf of the good people of Ekiti State, I want to say to mama that even though our great Daddy has left us, we will be here to support in whatever way we can.

“The State has not honoured him enough, we have done a bit but I think we all need to put our heads together, leaders of Ekiti, to really look for the most fitting way to recognise this teacher, teacher of men and servant of God and honour his service,” Fayemi said.

Giving the vote of thanks, one of the deceased’s sons, Wole Omoboriowo commended the roles of the ACN-led administration in Ekiti State for the support given the family especially for the burial.
