More Elderly People to Benefit from Social Security Scheme

Selection of  an additional 10,000 elderly citizens who will benefit from the State Government’s Social Security Scheme for the elderly has been concluded.

The Commissioner for Labour, Productivity and Human Capital Development, Mr Wole Adewumi who made this known in Ado Ekiti reiterated the commitment of the present administration  to making life more  meaningful  for the aged in the state.

He said that the present administration  would  continue  to accord the programme the required   attention  because of the high premium it places on the welfare of senior citizens in the state.

Mr. Adewumi assured that the list of beneficiaries  will be regularly reviewed while deceased beneficiaries will be replaced with those on reserve lists.

He called on Local Government Chairmen and other Community  Leaders to assist the State Government  by  providing  more  conducive accommodation for the payment of the stipends.
