Engineers in Ekiti State have lauded Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s infrastructural development in the State particularly the ongoing flyover and State Ring Road.
The Engineers under the auspices of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) Engineering Regulation Monitoring (ERM) and the Association of Professional Women Engineers in Ekiti gave the commendation while conducting an onsite assessment of the construction materials and the progress of work done on the flyover project.
The technical team led by the Chairman of the Ekiti State council of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Prof. Gbenga Aribisala expressed satisfaction with the level of work done at the project site.
Prof. Aribisala explained that the technical visit Engineering Regulation Monitoring committee was part of the statutory roles of the professional bodies to ensure delivery of standard and good quality jobs for public good and safety.
He said that “the technical crew checked the design and confirmed the adherence of the contractor to specifications as the design of the foundation footing was followed”.
Aribisala assured that the project is being handled and supervised by competent COREN registered engineers based on the assessment, findings and interactions with men on site.
Describing the level of development achieved by the Oyebanji administration in the State since inception of his administration as unequivocal, Aribisala noted that the ongoing infrastructural development and road projects would not only ease traffic flow, but also boost economic activities and agribusiness.
He pledged the continued support of all Engineering societies for efforts of the State Government to rapidly develop the State.
“At the stage of construction, we want to be sure the specifications are being followed. This project meets every Nigeria standard and is going to relief people especially commuters when it is completed. We want to thank the governor of Ekiti State, who has deem it fit to put this legacy in this place which is going to boost again the economic activities here.
“Civilizations are here. Projects like this are part of what every society that wants to be modern should be like, so I want to tell Ekiti people that Ekiti is making progress. This type of project is not only for one purpose, the economic aspect is very important and it’s going to ease traffic, we all know the condition here before this project commenced, even beyond that also, it’s going to bring some aesthetics and modernization to Ekiti and based on that, I want to congratulate Ekiti people, Ekiti is now becoming a city, especially Ado Ekiti.
“So, today, we have chosen to be here, and we have gone round, progressively, any person who has followed us would see the progress that is being made and we discovered and went through the drawings and we discovered that they were products of design. The soil test and all necessary tests has been done and the design and the specifications ready, the drawing, everything.
“This project meets every Nigeria standard and it is going to relief people especially commuters when it is completed, we want to thank the governor of Ekiti State, who has deem it fit to put this legacy in this place which is going to boost again the economic activities here”, Aribisala stated.
