Ekiti Spends N72 Million As Medical Assistance On Needy Patients

Ekiti State Government has spent a sum of N72milllion as medical assistance to needy patients who could not afford the cost  of medical services due to  financial constraints in the last 18 months.

The state Commissioner for Health , Prof  Olusola Fasubaa made this known during a ministerial press briefing  organized by the state ministry of Information and Civic Orientation  in Ado-Ekiti.
Prof Fasubaa  also disclosed that artificial limbs and other aid materials worth  N18million were also distributed to physically challenged people in the state during the period  under review.

According to the Health Commissioner , the State Government  has been taking all these steps because of its believe that Health Care must not only be affordable for the people but must be  made accessible to all.
He explained that the state Ambulance Service has also been strengthened with the procurement   of additional 4 units of Ford E-350 ambulances to take care of patients that need emergency medical services

Prof  Fasubaa  explained  that Free Medical Services to the people of the state as captured in Agenda 5 of the administration’s 8-Point Agenda  sought to ensure  that Essential Health Services   were provided to vulnerable groups while  immunization coverage  had also increased significantly in the state during the period under review

While advising pregnant women to patronize government health centres,the Commissioner  stressed that the [present administration had implemented programmes and policies  that had reduced maternal and infant mortality to the barest minimum in the state.
