April 19, 2025

Ekiti State Government has announced plan to commence aerial mapping of the State on Sunday April 20 as part of efforts to implement a comprehensive Land Administration solution that would enhance Government’s ability to plan appropriately for residents in the State, among other objectives.

The State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, explained that the exercise, which would witness the aircraft conducting aerial mapping flying at very low altitude, would last till December, 2025.

Highlighting the benefits of the exercise to the State, Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun stressed that it would enable the provision of accurate and reliable geospatial data, which is essential for effective land management, urban planning, and infrastructure development that would empower government to make informed decisions regarding land use, allocation, and development, leading to improved governance and sustainable development.

Olatunbosun added that availability of accurate and up-to-date geospatial data would provide stakeholders including landowners, property developers, investors, and community organizations, with greater certainty and confidence in their land transactions and investments thus reducing risks associated with land tenure insecurity, boundary disputes, and fraudulent transactions and leading to increased investment in real estate development and infrastructure projects.

The Commissioner assured that all necessary safety measures would be put in place during the aerial survey with close monitoring of all activities during the mapping exercise in the interest of public safety as well as the protection of residents and National security as a whole.

He solicited the continued support of all stakeholders for the success of the exercise and efforts of Government to develop the State, adding that residents should not be alarmed by plane flying at low altitude during the mapping exercise.
