Ekiti State Government has distributed computer laptops to 24 outstanding secondary school students in the state.
Presenting the computers in Ado, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Eniola Ajayi described the gesture as a
reward for excellence.
The Commissioner who was represented at the occasion by the Director of Inspectorate in the ministry, Mrs. Comfort Ayeni explained that the
students performed excellently in a challenge series test organised for students in all the Local Governments Areas of the state.According to her, the reward would serve as a motivating factor for the students to enable them improve on their performance and encourage others.
Dr. Ajayi counselled the students not to be involved in social vices that can distract their attention from their objective. She charged the students to avail themselves of the opportunity and also cultivate a high maintenance culture as she appealed to them to work harder to enable them benefit from the programme next year.
The Commissioner admonished the teachers to redouble their effort at monitoring the students and ensure they focus on their studies.
One of the students, Tolulope Afolabi who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries thanked the State Government for the gesture and assured that they would be good ambassadors of the state at all times.
