Fadipe Commends NGO For Computer Donations

Ekiti State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Chief Dayo Fadipe has commended Community Life Project (CLP),  a Non-Governmental Organisation for the donation of computers for each community development areas in the state.
Chief Fadipe gave the commendation while declaring open a 3 – day workshop on participatory Governance for Community Development
Practitioners in Ado – Ekiti.
The Commissioner commended the initiative of the Community Life Project (CLP) for the selection of Ekiti State out of the 36 states of
the Federation for its pilot project.
He stressed that the Community Development Officers in the 16 Local Government Areas and in the State are directly involved in getting the people at the grassroots to be actively involved in governance.
Chief Fadipe explained that each Local Government is currently constructing 5km of township roads and will deliver a total number of 80km road at the completion of the first phase of the project.
The Commissioner noted that efforts are on to organise Information, Communication Technology (ICT) Training Programme for Community
Development officers.
Earlier, the Executive Director of Community Life Project, Mrs. Ngozi Iwere said the NGO donated the computers to the Community Development officers to assist the government to set up a database of community needs, resources, inputs and records of development projects at the community level.
Mrs. Iwere stressed that the workshop would avail the participants the opportunity of acquiring new knowledge and skills on how to mobilise community leaders to join the State Government in its efforts to promote participatory people – centred development.
In his remarks the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Deji Ajayi urged the participants to let the knowledge acquired at the workshop to reflect in their day to day activities.
