People involved in flitching and other illegal forestry activities in Ekiti State have been warned to desist from such acts or face the wrath of the law.
The commissioner for Housing and Environment, Barrister Paul Omotosho who gave the warning while fielding questions from newsmen in his office in Ado-Ekiti said the present administration is committed to the provision of conducive environment that will attract investors to the
state with a view of making the state one of the fastest growing economies in Africa.
Barrister Omotoso said that the state government will frown at anyone involved in unauthorised logging , flitching or any other illegal forest activities.
The commissioner urged timber contractors and saw millersto cooperate with the government to fight illegal forestry operations in the state.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner for Housing and Environment has reminded people living in flood prone areas in the state of the need to vacate the areas to forestall disaster.
The commissioner said the call was imperative as the state government would not fold its arms and allow the people to live in flood plains and other disaster- prone areas.
He explained that the Fayemi Administration will continually implement programmes and policies that would better the lots of the people.
