Desist from Dumping Refuse on Undeveloped Plots – Morakinyo

People living in Mosafejo Quarters of Basiri Area in Ado Metropolis have been charged to stop dumping refuse on undeveloped plots in the Area.

The Chairman, Ekiti State Waste Management Authority, Mr.  Adebayo Morakinyo gave the charge while monitoring the evacuation of refuse from an illegal waste dump in the area.

Mr. Morakinyo who condemned indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the area by residents noted that this unwholesome practice could cause outbreak of epidemics, adding that the State Government will prosecute owners of such land turned into dump sites in residential areas in accordance with the state environmental law.

He stated that the eight point agenda of the Fayemi’s administration can only be achieved in clean and condusive environment.

The Chairman who said that the State Government is embarking house to house waste collection, charged the residents of Ado and Ikere Ekiti to cooperate with waste collectors.

Hon. Morakinyo counselled the people in areas where there are illegal dump sites to form vigilante groups to disallow the people from dumping refuse in such sites as the Waste Management Authority will not hesitate to prosecute those living around the dumping site in special courts.
