July 4, 2012

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has directed the State’s Local Government Service Commission to issues queries to scores of workers of Ilejemeje Local Government Council to explain their absence/lateness to office during the Governor’s unscheduled visit to the council secretariat on Monday.

According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Olayinka Oyebode, the Governor gave the directive when he discovered that only 42 of the entire staff of the council were on their seats when he visited the council secretariat, during an inspection of government projects in the area.

Governor Fayemi had visited the council secretariat between 8.15 and 8.35am on Monday, only to discover that neither the Council Chairman, Omoba Adegoroye Bamigboye nor any of his supervisory  councilors was in the office. Also the Director of Administration, the Treasurer as well as majority of the staff were not around.

Miffed by the development, the Governor requested for the attendance register and discovered that only 42 workers had signed.

He subsequently went away with the register and directed the commission to issue queries to those who were not around.

The inspection took the Governor to some of the on going road and school projects in the council area.
