Youth Corp members serving in Public Secondary Schools in Ekiti State have been called upon to exercise patience as efforts are in top gear
for the payment of their state allowance.
The Chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Prince Bayo Adeniran made the call at a -4 day seminar organised by the Commission for the Youth Corp members and state volunteer corps members serving in public Secondary Schools in Ado-Ekiti.
Prince Adeniran who noted that the delay in the payment of the Corpers May/June State allowance was due to an increase in the number of corpers posted to schools, assured them that their state allowances would soon be paid through the e-payment system.
The TESCOM boss who regarded school children as leaders of tomorrow whose future must be guided jealously, made case for effective teaching and learning in the state’s school system.
While appealing to the School Principals to ensure comfort in terms of accommodation for the corp members, Prince Adeniran re-affirmed the
commitment of the Fayemi Administration to quality education.
He campaigned for regular attendance, punctuality, dedication to duties and advised the corps members to be friendly with their students to gain their attention.
The Director, Planning, Research and Statistics in the Commission, Mr. Funso Omowaye who was one of the facilitators enjoined teachers to always illustrate with explanations and demonstrations by making use of inductive and deductive methods while teaching.
Mr. Omowaye described teaching as a career that involves understanding of the students and how well they were taught, advised Corp members and state Volunteer Corp members not to be civil with their students to achieve their cooperation.
A retired Director of Education, Mr. Jonathan Falade in his paper titled “qualities of an excellent teacher”, said teaching is an art of helping others to learn and advised them to always plan and guide their students to achieve desired results.
