Three uniformed staff of Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency (EKSTMA) have been dismissed from the service for collecting bribes from traffic offenders.
The General Manager of the Agency, Mr. Charles Fasuba made this known while briefing newsmen in his office in Ado-Ekiti.
According to Mr. Fasuba, some people from Ojumose Junction of Ado-Ekiti informed the Agency through phone calls that ten staff of the Agency were collecting bribes from traffic offenders.
He said immediately the management received the call, the ten officers were arrested and after interrogation by top officials of the Agency three of them found culpable of the offence.
Mr. Fasuba named the three affected officers as Babalola Kikelomo, Oladipo Akinola and Ogundola Ojo Abidemi.
The general Manager who cautioned the general public not to offer bribes to its officers said anybody caught in the act would be arrested and prosecuted.
He therefore appealed to the motorists and Okada riders in the State to obey all the traffic laws noting that uniformed staff of the Agency have been empowered by law to arrest and prosecute traffic offenders.
It should be noted that Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency bill was passed into law by the members of the State House of Assembly in 2011 and signed into law by the Governor of the State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi in the same year.
