Ekiti To Have Integrated Poultry Farm

In its bid to fulfill the vision of Governor Kayode Fayemi on Industrial and Agricultural development agenda, the government has planned to facilitate the setting up of a fully integrated poultry farm in Ekiti State.

The Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and cooperatives, Otunba Reim Bodunrin, made this known while playing host to the Chief Operating Officer of Food Concepts PLC, owners of the Chicken republic fast food chain. Mr. Seun Sule in Ado-Ekiti.

Otunba Bodunrin, who emphasized the economic importance of modern poultry farming said the project would expose existing poultry farmers to modern trends in the poultry business to create jobs for people and supply poultry products to other entrepreneurs and this will increase the internally generated revenue of the state. He said the state Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi was passionate about home grown companies that would have direct impact on the people.

Earlier, the COO of the Food Concepts PLC, Mr. Seun Sule itemized the benefit of the Integrated Poultry farm at its full operation. Mr. Sule said Food Concepts PLC under its Farm subsidiary – Free Range farms LTD intends to set up an integrated poultry farm that will include: Hatchery, Broiler Houses, Feed mill and processing plant in Ekiti State.

He made an appeal to the State Government to support this venture by providing 500 hectares of agricultural land in not more than 2 (Two) locations within the state. The project when completed and running at full capacity will be able to supply approximately 1 million processed chickens per month.

He called on the existing and interested farmers to be involved as Free Range Farms is ready to supply the necessary training and inputs that will make them meet the current development in the sector. The COO added that his company will operate an out grower scheme wherein the birds produced by the small-scale poultry farmers will be purchased from them.
