L-R: Wife of Secretary to Ekiti State Government, Mrs. Modupe Owolabi; Wife of Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Alhaja Fatimah Jinadu; and Wife of the State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, during the second annual IFTAR (breaking of fast) and dinner hosted by the governor's wife at the Goverment House Mosque/Jibowu Hall and distribution of gifts to Muslim women across the state to mark the holy month of Ramadan.

Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, has feted and presented gifts to Muslim women across the state at the second annual IFTAR(breaking of fast) dinner with the women to mark the Islamic month of Ramadan.
The group was led by the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association in Nigeria to the Government House Mosque and Lady Jibowu Hall where the governor’s wife joined the women in praying for the state and the nation.
The governor’s wife had hosted the Muslim women to similar dinner at the same venue during last year’s holy month of Ramadan. This year’s event also witnessed a lecture delivered by a guest lecturer, Dr Bilquis Abdulraheem, on the position of women in Islam. Speaking during the prayers preceding the breaking of fast, the governor’s wife urged women to pray for their families, the state and for peace to reign in the country.
Erelu Bisi Fayemi, who noted that Islam was a religion of peace, love and tolerance, urged the country’s Muslims to use the period of Ramadan to pray for peace and unity of the country. She particularly sued for religious tolerance and called for a halt to the killings and wanton destruction of property in the country.
The governor’s wife used the opportunity to solicit for more support and prayers for the Governor Kayode Fayemi-led administration to enable it to deliver more dividends of democracy to the citizenry.
Earlier, in her lecture, Dr. Bilquis Abdulraheem stressed the need for women to ensure that they train their children morally and academically to ensure that they attained societal standard. She urged women to get actively involved in politics and to be economically productive.
Thanking the governor’s wife for hosting the women for the second year running, the President of FOMWAN in the state, Alhaja Fausat Ahmed-Yusuff, restated the continued support of the Muslim community for the state government.
