Social Security Scheme: Adewumi Warns Council Assistants Against Illegal Deductions

Ekiti State Commissioner for Labour, Productivity and Human Capital Development, Mr. Apalara Wole – Adewumi has renewed his call on Council Assistants to the Governor in the 16 Local Government Areas of the State to desist from deducting any amount of money from the monthly stipend of N5,000 per elderly citizens under the State’s Social Security Scheme.

Mr. Wole – Adewumi who gave the warning at Ikole – Ekiti while monitoring the payment exercise for the month of July said nobody should hide under the cloak of paid advertisements to short change the beneficiaries.

The Commissioner said that deductions of any kind would be viewed as fraud and an act of sabotage warning that any official caught in the act would be sanctioned according to the law that set up the scheme.

He explained that government would not fold its arms while its officials make mess of a scheme designed to banish poverty from the society.
