The Nigerian office of United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) has donated office equipment  worth several Million of Naira to Ekiti State Government so as to ensure effective management of the Millennium Development Goals office in the State.

The equipment include 10 units of laptop computers, 10 desktop computers, 5 HP Printers and one canon photocopier.

Taking delivery of the equipment in Ado Ekiti, the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi commended the gesture; saying that the support which DFID has rendered to the state since its return in 2011 have helped in achieving the 8-point agenda of the Fayemi-led administration.

The Governor who noted that DFID’s  partnership with the State is based on an objective assessment of the State and the vision of the present administration said his campaign against poverty has been  made possible with the leverage on development partners.

Fayemi said he is encouraged to work more for the people as he gets positive response from people on the progress made on developing the State; adding that he wont be deterred by the limited resources that accrue to the State.

He added that the development recorded so far shows that government must be done with the people, not just for them and expressed the readiness of his administration to partner genuine development partners like DFID.

Governor Fayemi however commended the roles of DFID in the effectiveness of the Governor’s office and the Public Private Partnership as well as Public Procurement that has birthed transparency in government.

Earlier, the South-West regional Coordinator of DFID, Mr Sina Fagbenro-Byron said the organization’s commitment to the development of the State is not unconnected to the fact that the State’s 8-point agenda is in tandem with the goals of DFID.

Fagbenro-Byron said DFID is impressed at the judicious management of the resources which the organization has provided for the State; adding that the donation is an acknowledgment of what DFID can achieve with the State Government to better the lot of the masses.

He assured that Ekiti will continue to be the first choice option for DFID’S continued partnership.
