Urban Renewal Agency
The Urban Renewal Agency was initially known as Capital and Urban Development Authority (CUDA) which was established by an enabling Act, the Ondo State Capital and Urban Development Authority Law, 1992 as applicable to Ekiti State. After the creation of Ekiti State, the Agency was established by the Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law No. 16 of 2011.

Urban Renewal Agency is situated at the Ground Floor of Olugbenga Faseluka Building, Government Secretariat, Ado-Ekiti.
Urban Renewal Agency is under the supervision of Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development formerly Ministry of Land, Housing and Urban Development.
The Ekiti State Urban Renewal Agency (EKSURA), like similar organizations worldwide, is a physical planning initiative that aims to combine policy formulation, urban design plans and capital outlays for the regeneration of blighted areas or traditional enclaves of major towns in Ekiti State. It aims at improving the physical outlook and infrastructural deficits of these areas to raise the living standard, both aesthetically and economically. It is the mission of the Agency to modernize major towns in Ekiti state in accordance with the world best practises.
The Urban Renewal Agency is headed by a General Manager, who as the Accounting Officer, supervises the daily activities of the Agency. There are five Departments in the Agency, with each headed by a Director. The Departments in the Agency are:
- Works Department: This department comprises of the project implementation units like Project Design, Estimate and Valuation, Monitoring and Construction Management. The Department is in charge of all capital projects from concept stage to implementation, completion and commissioning stages.
- Administrative and supplies: as in the present website
- Finance and Account: as in the present website
- Audit Department; as in the present website
- Research and Statistics Department: This department collects, collates, analyses all data related to the activities of the Agency, and then reports it in a way to bring about improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of the operations of the Agency.
The Agency has 15 members of staff categorized under senior and junior staff. However, the Agency is seriously short of staff in critical areas, especially the professional cadre Architects, Civil Engineers, Quantity Surveyors Urban and regional Planners.
The mission, values and responsibilities setting up the Agency entrusts it with the following;
- Identifying the areas needed to be upgraded and suggesting to Government on possible redevelopment, renewal programmes and modern developmental project that is economically and practically viable in the spotted area for general benefit of the citizens of the State
- Implementation of Government Urban redevelopment or renewal projects
- Holding, administering and maintaining Government assets within the Government redeveloped area.
- To develop plans that support the provision of infrastructural development for residential, industrial and recreation in urban centres in Ekiti State.
- To collaborate with other appropriate organs in the State to design and construct Urban markets, road transport bus terminals and recreational centres.
- To formulate general policies for urban beautification
- To enforce compliance with any of its policies and development plans and take appropriate measure against contravention.
- To design and execute plans for the provision of municipal services such as the supply and distribution of water and electricity to part of the state.
