L-R: Chairman. Ekiti Forum, Chief Jonny Ajayi; Former Governor of old Ondo State. Evangelist Bamidele Olumilua; President, Ekiti Council of Elders, Chief Babatola Olora; and Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, during a courtesy visit by the State's Council of Elders to the Governor, in Ado- Ekiti.

Elderly citizens in Ekiti State under the aegis of Ekiti Council of Elders have lauded Governor Kayode’s administrative style and passion for development, stressing that his emergence as Governor of Ekiti State was an answer to their prayers for someone who would be a unifying factor and a developer.
The elders led by first Republic Minister, Chief Joel Babatola, said the State is very fortunate to have Fayemi as Governor, adding that the values for which Ekiti people are known are being restored under his administration.

They called on Ekiti peoples to rally round the administration in its quest to lift the state in the areas of social, economic and infrastructural developments.
Some members of the council including former Governor of old Ondo State, Evangelist Bamidele Olumilua and Chief Deji Fasuan who made these assertions during a courtesy call on the Governor at his office on Friday, said the body was established to support whoever is governor of the state and help him succeed.
Chief  Fasuan who is renowned for his role in the creation of the State in 1996, said the council is apolitical and passionate about developing the state.
Fasuan asserted that the first half of Fayemi’s tenure was characterised by integrity, hard work and performance; urging the Governor to continue to make these values the watchwords of his administration in the second half of the tenure.
Olumilua who assured the governor of the support of the elders of the state, urged Fayemi to continue to tap from the wealth of experience of the elders in addressing grey areas of development.
In his remarks, Governor Fayemi thanked the Elders for the visit; saying that it was a meeting of great minds coming for the development of the State.
The Governor said he sees the council as a platform for any governor to get good counsel, support and reach, adding that their wealth of experience in governance could be of immense benefit.
While promising that government would always consult with the council in a well-structured and apolitical manner, he said  that there is need to bridge the gap between the energy of the youth and the wisdom of the elders.
