Attention of the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi has been drawn to some online reports about the arrest and release of Mr. Seun Odewale, his former Personal Assistant by men of the Katsina State Police Command.
Giving the various dimensions the incident was reported and interpreted in some quarters, it has become imperative for us to make some clarifications regarding the person of Mr Odewale and his mission in Katsina.
Mr. Odewale was the Personal Assistant to Governor Fayemi until October 2012 when he was admitted for a post graduate studies at the Harvard University, United States of America.
Mr. Odewale came into the country in December for holiday and to carry out some research in connection with his studies at Harvard.
He is a law abiding citizen and gentleman of high moral standard that would not run foul of the laws of the land.
Thankfully, the Police authorities in Katsina State, having listened to his explanation and after some checks on his personal profile and his telephones, were satisfied that he meant no harm and posed no threat to security in the state, hence he together with his friend, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim were released.
We deem it appropriate to make these clarifications so that the unsuspecting members of the public are not hoodwinked into believing some concocted stories being peddled by some individuals and groups about the development.
Olayinka Oyebode
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor
